Anybody have an interest in doing a traveling sketchbook? Like, one of the larger moleskines or something?
I've always wanted to do one, but there's always a waiting list to do it, and with talk of an art jam here, I thought this might be cool too. I dunno, if enough people are interested it could be pretty cool. |

This is going to sound stupid, but I am assuming this is an artbook that is passed from artist to artist who then "art it up" and pass it along? _________________ "Look out! The child is a bomb!" ~ Ben Wooller

Yeah,, you do X amount of pages and mail it to the next person and so on until it's full. There's usually a theme or something... but I guess nobody is interested in doing it.
Shame, that. There's a lot of talent on these boards and it could be really cool. |

I'll do it Sail! Of course...I have no drawing talents what so ever, so I wouldn't actually add anything awesome to it. However, I would definitely give it "character."

Yes... 'character'.
It's funny, this 'comminuty' sometimes doesn't really feel like much of a 'community' in the arthosue. I'm a bit guilty of it too, but it seems like a lot of people just post their own shit and move on.
I should probably just shut up right now, because I'm tired and a bit grumpy, so yeah... I'm kinda bummed nobody showed an interest in this. maybe I can drum some interest up on my blog. |

it is a cool idea Sail-mon!
my drawing balls are fully shrivelled with atrophy from the long hours (as of late) at my 'real job'
someday i'll make time to scribble in your moleskine! -- promise _________________ John-Paul McCarthy

you´re right bout that. i don´t think i have to post a comment to every piece of art put in here, but i´ll try to as often as possible, particular to the ones who post comments. and you´re one of the members doing it on a regular level.
no offence: but i when someone just posts to get some nice comments but doesn´t do it himself, why should i comment his stuff.
back to topic. i just haven´t figured out what a moleskin or a travelling sketchbook is?
do you sent the sketchbook via slowmail to someone other and he scribbles something in?
i´m kinda sceptic bout a collab cause we tried it twice i think and it wasn´t finished i think. but still i would participate. _________________

Yeah, there aren't enough regulars to really do something like that. I know we've done a couple collabs that were finished, but that was a couple of years ago and spiritform kept them going.
I'd do the sketchbook, it'd be really cool.
And you guys are right. I try to comment on many pics, but I don't get them all. And still, that's more than what a lot of drifters do. It's hard to complain about though, as most of what those people post are really great.
I used to share a sketchbook with a guy from college a few years back. I still love to open it up and remember. It'd be cool to take pictures of the finished product and give them their own little space on the board. You know what would really be sweet? If we could include templesmith and sort of make it for him and the site. _________________ www.tdchristman.boonika.org |

I'd be game to do this. I've not posted a ton of artwork, and I don't think I'm as good as some of you guys but I'm more then willing to contribute. =) _________________ “I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day.”

I wasn't trying to talk shit.... I ended up doing that, though... like I said, a bit grumpy last night. Anyway, I'm not pointing fingers or suggesting everyone has to say something about every single piece of art that comes through here, but at times t just seems like a lot of people post their own stuff and run.
Regardless, if enough people want to do this, that'd be pretty cool.
Christian: A moleskine is a brand of sketchbook. http://www.moleskine.com/eng/default.htm
and a traveling skectchbook is where you mail it around the world to different people and everyone draws some shit in it and mails it to the next person. |
