Hi Ben!
It's been so long since we chatted last...what's going on man? Will you attend any comic convention anytime soon? I'd love to have some artwork signed...
Keep up the awesome work you're doing, it really kicks major arse!!! _________________ Nevermind. |

Ben,
Just wanted to get a little bit of your secrets. When you get to the coloring stage, how do you set up your file? Do you do the flatting and make flat channels? Or do you just jump right in. Do you primarily work with channels or layers? What other effects and brushes do you use? Is your secret mainly textured overlays/layers? How do you get that "glowing" look to certain colors? Color burn? Dodge? Give me some hints, man!
I know these questions have been asked in the past and you've been pretty tight-lipped and mum on the subject, but I figured I'd just ask again. Maybe you're feeling more generous. _________________ "Most stories end with punching or shooting a squid-like worm thing." |

God, I hate techy stuff you know, as I don't know the jargon for one, and I change routine all the time...though not drastically.
Basically I just jump right in. Work in layers. No effects bar "variations" to get some tone and as brushs go, nothing special, just airbrush, some dodge and some burn and colour. I get things to glow with airbrush mostly. Or you're seeing seperately drawn components. _________________

I noticed on your blog that a lot of what your doing these days appears to be on standard A4 paper.
Is this correct?
And if so why do you prefer this to the industry standard comic boards etc? Is it because its easier to scan or do you get better results with the tools and techniques you use?
Thanks in advance.

Wow, it took me a while to figure out what 'footy' was. Man, I am so American.
Anyway, great awesometastic thread but I can't think of anything to ask. So I'll just go read answers contently _________________ I'm moving to Oakland, it's a nice place, right? |

Ahh... there you go. At least I have that excuse that we call it soccer, and 'football' we call 'american football'...
