I;ll do that when I can yup...but not too much..I have to keep some secrets. ( though to be honest...from talking to other artists, we all seem to do it different ways. )
I'm saving the uber explanations for a book later maybe...but I will post some step by step stuff soon. Promise. _________________

Okay, here's a question that I've been wanting to know the answer to for a long time: How do you put the "tape" on your images? Is there some sort of plug-in you have that I don't know about or what? I've been fooling around with it in Photoshop and I think I've found a decent way to do it, but I'm curious as to know how you do it.

Ha! This might shock you but....it's just real tape.
I scanin lots of bits of tape and stuff stuck to things. Lots of interesting textures. I have a bit of a library going. _________________

Damn. I thought I had it. Your way does seem quite a bit better, though. I just scan in different paper textures. I never even thought of scanning in real tape. I thought it was all Photoshop. Thanks for the answer! I'm going to use it!

Yeah, don't stop at paper textures...paint the paper, scribble on it, stick things to it. It's all good! _________________

Okay, here's another couple questions for you Ben. How long does it take you to finish a page? And how much time does your editor ( boss, etc... ) give you to finish a page? Do you still have to turn out a page a day like normal pencilers ( who do only pencils ) even though you paint and color your pages yourself? I would think you'd be given more time considering you basically do all the art ( including inks and colors ) yourself. I read somewhere that Alex Ross, who fully paints all his stuff, takes about two to four days to get his stuff done. Oh, and how much time are you given to do covers? Is it the same amount of time as a page? I was just wondering.

"How long does it take you to finish a page? even though you paint and color your pages yourself?"
Not really sure...as I don't really work on one page at a time, but usually several at once. ( through each stage etc, I might do 4-8 at a time etc. )
If I work hard, and the pages aren't requiring huge detailed things...then I can do upt ot 4 pages a day. But that's not exactly what I aim for. I'd much rather take more time with the work, deadlines permitting.
"And how much time does your editor ( boss, etc... ) give you to finish a page? "
I generally just get a finish date that an issue needs to be done by. That's the best way, as it means I can just do what I want, and work at my own pace within the given time...so long as it's all there at the end! Any problems with pages only take a day or two at worst to finish fixing anyway.
" Oh, and how much time are you given to do covers?"
I just fit them in around all the normal page stuff. I usually work on a couple at a time too...but stretch the length of time on them out a fair bit. Perhaps twice as long or more.
I'm getting to the point I can almost do a 22 page issue in 2 weeks in htat sketchy style... but I think it'd take me a month to do a more honed, inked styled book with more detail and backgrounds, should the story warrant it. _________________
